 I think this say it best. heboltz3 I don't think people are trying to say that your 100 hours makes you unqualified to make great doto items. I think that is more than enough time to understand all the mechanics you need if you are only interested in making items. After that really it is just research, and I tend to load lobby's or bot matches to see how the heroes move and how their items work, but that is still part of the research phase imo. I think we got derailed enough and we should put all this stupid shit behind us and focus on some cool dota art..... Who's with me!!!!! :poly136:
Take TF2 as an example, I've been a huge fan of this FPS and part of the fandom for years. You'd be surprised to see how passionate these fan artists are despite not playing for 600 hours JUST to grasp the lore. You have hardcore players that don't know jack about the story behind TF2, and the casual ones who enjoy drawing fanart in their free time.
Yes it's a plus if you're really really active in playing, however it doesn't give you any PRIVILEGE to judge other "lesser" fan artists. We should acknowledge certain individuals not keen on the gameplay BUT highly interested in the lore and characters, and vice versa.

I think you misread the comment you quoted. I was not judging anyone based on their play time, and even stated that the 100 hours mentioned was more than enough, and tried to bring focus back to making art and not comparing hours played to assests made. If I was as privileged as you think I am then i would not be working on a chen set concepted by someone who does not play dota at all
So awesome to see singles live and kicking!, and Congrats to everyone who had items accepted, especially Don Don with the entire treasure, absolutely deserved.
And props to Anuxi for the Valve email on this topic, it may very well have spurred the prompt addition of these items.
Despite not getting anything in, I am quite happy with the two new chests. Both house great items almost completely. Hell, I got all the rares from one chest. Bought five chests in total and loving the new toys.
from a marketing point i think it is again stupid what valve is doing.
ofc they dont care if they bring in more items in the same time, those items
will be less often sold - but since they sell more in total, their profit will stay
the same. but the artists who did that stuff that is sold, they get less.
so i think its just a little more punch into the face instead of beeing happy.
6 chests in a month while everyone is spamming his money for compendium.
nr1 marketing.
Yes, finially after waiting more than 6 Months
Every time I'm thinking maybe I should quit making items, they add something.
This wll keep me going again for some months...

Imagine if they also gave 25 compendium points every time a singles chest was open, and 50 points for every set chest while the compendium was available.

 someone please post some art!
Worth! gg wp
0% abandon game, you got my respect XD
And here I thought 580 games with 0% abandoned was good
haha, at least it has turned positive at this point? I wish I was at home so I could post some doto items stuffs. Lets get back in focus people!
Slark Set (Something fishy)
Since Tiny got a makeover. Some possible sets
I found a new workflow which I like so that's a plus.
Layer Order goes
-Lineart
-AO
-Shadows/Highlights
-Color
That way colors can always be change
(All up for collabs )
Whooo doto art! I can't wait to make Tiny items. For the Slark daggers, I am liking 2 and 3 the most
A real human being, and a real hero.
Meaning the others are what in this case?
I am a meat popsicle
Neanderthals
You would be surprised how many game developers out there, even at the biggest studios, don't actually play games.
If there's one thing I've learned in the past few years. Make. No. Assumptions.
You guys are severely lacking. Also, you ain't truly played dota until you play in scum hole called low priority. #dedication #research #gojira
I'm aiming for 10% to be honest.
.99 cent singles chest. Bout time.
awesome! Gratz people who got stuff in!
Edit: FUCK YES!!!!!!!!
DO IT!!! im calling you out :poly124:
It's really cool to see Valve listening and testing out new things, I hope these 99c chests sell enough for them to be a regular feature on the Store.
Lol I will, I will! I already have some ideas
You get on it, too!!
I'll bust out a single this weekend while I wait for some concept art
All the single items
All the single items
And props to Anuxi for the Valve email on this topic, it may very well have spurred the prompt addition of these items.
I guess Valve wasn't lying about trying to get items in-game at a faster rate.
Congrats to all!
