It relates directly to my gripe of getting a new awesome art book, then opening it up to find it's exclusively concept art.

Can someone explain what a detail color map is? This is the first Im really hearing of them. I know detail normal maps, and I use them often, but Im not sure how a detail color map would even work? Cant seem to find anything using search on polycount, so sorry if its been asked before.
