Insane Photoshop memory usage?
I'm using CS1 on XP SP3. Loading PS (fast enough) uses 185mb of memory. Opening a 6mb file with about 20-30 layers takes nearly half a minute (!!) and jumps the mem-usage to 500mb. Ok, wtf? I have: History states = 5. Scratch disk = non-startup (with plenty o space). Cache levels = 8 (dunno what it does anyways). Maximum… -

Thanks for the help guys. I was stuck with an older version of Photoshop and worse, no graphic tablet, so I couldn't use all of these techniques, but I still got a couple of handy hints that made things a little bit less cumbersome. Cheers. -
Photoshop undo always changings the layer I have selected?
I find this quite annoying, I'll select a new layer, move something on that layer and then hit undo. Instead of just undoing the thing I moved it undoes that plus it takes me back to the previously selected layer. This is a bad feature, is there any way to turn this off so layer selection is recorded in the undo? -

Do you have wacom intuos 3 as input device? one of last year's drivers had a bug, that kept crashing corel painter if opened simultaneously with photoshop. something was wrong with more than one program, accessing the same tablet in that driver release. it was fixed later, so try updating your wacom drivers and see if that… -

dDo allows you to do this, even if you aren't using dDo to make/generate textures. It also has other handy selection and previewing tools that will work with the typical photoshop texturing workflow. -
