I'm honestly not sure what you're aiming for (to me gradient texturing suggests the use of lookup tables and shaping curves) but... if you want it to look like a bunch of floor tiles it sort of already does - using a box shaped gradient would make it look more tiley if you want it to not look like a load of floor tiles…
A friend and I have been pondering the idea of making a music video for the song "The Dust Storm" by Those Poor Bastards [ame] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhq55-zWXQA[/ame] I've been putting a character together the last couple of days to try out some ideas and a different technique. I first drew the textures, put them…
Unless you're a graphic designer, just use a simple business card template from the web. The people you're giving these to are going to have so many cards in their bag by the end of GDC, they're not even going to bother with cards that aren't easy to understand. edit: Holy hell, I just did a google search for business card…

Hi I could use some feedback on what people's preferred program is to 3D paint textures onto hard edge objects; I'm a weapons modeler and have been using 3dsmax's Viewport Canvas for a few years now, but its just getting way too laggy as I'm now going onto 2048 sets for weapons. Even when it works, it's not the best as…
Kurt Busiek and Cary Nord lured me in when they launched a retelling of Robert E. Howards Conan stories in Darkhorse comics. Then they left for a while, others tried to continue it and it just wasn't the same, so I checked out the original REH novels.... I've reread everything he wrote 2 or 3 times now. So I'm going to…
Yeah the Batman/Superman one is probably one of my favorites. The sculptor is working on Supermans cape now and trying to wrap the piece up. I am hoping he will do a kit of it and sell them as i would like to get my hands on one. There are so many more cool sculpts on the site though and some really cool mods to existing…
Hey there, I am currently working on an interior scene, and I would like to have this level of details when it comes to the dust and dirty floor. I first thought I could get it with a displacement map [indeed, I can, but then it's gonna be a very long way and take a lot of RAM to duplicate it] I think the best way would be…
Do you have a special workflow for producing assets quickly? yes, cubemap or even just a hemisphere sky, something with a gradient instead of just a flat color. I never make a 3d scene without it; it fixes areas which clip to black, which is a tell-tale sign of computer games graphics (never happens in Hollywood/TV). With…
So just curious if the community knows of a good automatic way to pack UV. Essentially a program that you guys think does it best. Here is a few programs I tried and my ranking of it from 1-10. * 3ds max: 7.5, I think this is the best results I have gotten * Maya: 7, sometimes better then 3ds max, but sometimes it just…
