Hey everyone, I'm trying to learn 3d modeling and I'm kind of confused. Looking through the forums it seems like a lot of people are using zbrush for modeling and then transferring to maya? I'm a broke college kid so I can't afford zbrush and I'm instead using the student version of maya and I'm wondering if I need to…
Hey Guys I am making this robot for one of my classes and would like some help to make him look cool. In these pictures I have a low poly next to a high poly because I plan to use Mayas transfer maps to generate a Normal map for him. So any feedback good, bad or ugly would be most appreciated!
Hi all ! I making a tree for my small diorama project and I used "sidenormalthief" to change the normal of my leafs. The problem is when I import that on Marmoset2 I have a different result from 3dsMAX. So maybe some one can help/explain me . 1 - Result in 3DS max after the transfer 2 - The result of the normals 3 - Result…
Hey guys, I've been able to create a looping ncloth in maya and I've created a bone chain that is going to be the rig used to animate the flag with. But as soon as I keyframe the bones they no longer listen to the rivets I've used to transfer the movement. Does anyone have any idea how I can keyframe or export the…
Hey there, wondering a bit on a step from Remy Dupont's Art Station entry. It's this WIP 15 bit where he transfers the high res sculpt detail to the final mesh and UVs. He doesn't go into much detail. I'm wondering if he retopo'd and did the UVs, then used project all in the subtool palette, doing one sub level at a time?…
You can clearly see that those dupe islands have been offset for baking. OP - you should straighten out all those rectangular islands. I can see aliasing on all of them. This can transfer to your NM. Good practice to always straighten island borders where you can.
Right right ! 100% agreed. I should probably have mentioned that I meant it more for the cases when one has full control over one's pipeline. Thankfully enough Zbrush data is "raw" enough, allowing for easy enough transfer/subdiv recreation too. But yeah, no perfect solution here for sure.
Sorry, kinda off topic here, but i have a question :D I don't know 3ds max have catmull-clark subdivision yet or not ? I am looking for a modeling have that so i can easily transfer back and forth with maya ... and is modo really better than 3ds max in model ?
Oooo...Myyyy...Fuckin....God... o.o This is getting to the level where we can do anything in zbrush without going out of it. But the problem will occur when we would want to transfer high poly mesh with hair in to low poly. It will be as hard as right now, because we still have to make planes and all.
I think you're going to fast, and it's hurting the quality of your work. It's pretty good, but it needs to be cleaned up and polished. There's a lot of blobs and aberrations that your transferring in your normal map. Using the pinch, polish and smooth brushes you should do a bit of cleaning passes. This will improve your…
