Robot for 50'sish sci fi Office

Hey Guys I am making this robot for one of my classes and would like some help to make him look cool. In these pictures I have a low poly next to a high poly because I plan to use Mayas transfer maps to generate a Normal map for him. So any feedback good, bad or ugly would be most appreciated!

hi, it looks like a good start. I think the hi poly could use more polies and the low poly could use fewer. Like the feet on the low poly need to be optimized a lot more and the feet on the hi need some more details and chamfered edges.

Also, I'm not really sold on the forearm detail. I think you could make that a little more interesting.

Great start tho! Keep at it!

    Looks like Iron Giant! ;-)

The proportions seem kinda wonky to me. I'd also try to have the ankle area make a bit more sense mechanically. It doesn't seem like his feet could pivot around very well.

Be sure to give the high-poly some bevel along the hard edges, even if it's just a small amount. This will help catch the specular along the edges. You can really go nuts with the polycount on the high version, so don't be afraid to smooth out the head and other round parts to get a smoother normal mapped surface on the low poly.

    Good luck!
