I started another model for my game, so I thought I should put the progress in a different thread. This asset is a composite bow, something like this. this is my initial base model, more to follow and as always input welcome.
I haven't been able to work on my project much recently but I'm really happy with how the structures are turning out. This will be a longer term project than I initially anticipated.
There's two parts to it really. It's perfectly possible to get a decent initial unwrap using a dumb auto unwrapper but I'm buggered if I'm letting it decide how I lay them out
I think i triangulated this as best i could, the three .obj files are the gun, bake material/objects, and another object that needs to be baked(it got left out the initial sweep).
Well I've decided to go back and retopo everything, wasn't happy with me initial result, here's my progress so far, gonna begin UV mapping later, thanks
