I started another model for my game, so I thought I should put the progress in a different thread. This asset is a composite bow, something like this.

I'd take another look at the limbs, the reference has a much more obvious bend in them while yours has less. In archery it's important that your bows limbs bend properly to give you a proper brace height and so it actually shoots properly.

I dunno, looks pretty close to me :P
the bottom doesn't line up because my mesh is symmetry-ed and the actual bow is not symmetrical, I imagine because it's handmade and not machine milled.

I dont know anything about bows, so why have you flattened the outer most curves on the bow on the right side?
the ends flatten out because that's how it's constructed
