Matte/Shadow in Mental Ray
Is it possible to render a matte/shadow material on a ground plane in mental ray in order to catch AO shadows on a render? I know there is a matte/shadow/reflection mental ray material, but it doesn't behave the same as the scanline matte/shadow. It catches the AO shadows, but the ground plane is still visible. All lights in unreal are rendered using deferred rendering. Different shaders handle normal map display in different ways, and obviously the RTT shader is designed to handle the RTT-generated normals perfectly. PBR is still applicable, but with offline renderer, so material format will be specific to their renderer. Ask about their pipeline... What renderer you'd be expected to use, what material pipeline. Offline renderers pay more attention to transmission and reflectance properties than games do. No baking nor lightmaps.… -

Or re-render, but this time render as a sequence of lossless images, like TIFF or TGA. Then after the render is done, compile into an AVI.
