Is it possible to render a matte/shadow material on a ground plane in mental ray in order to catch AO shadows on a render? I know there is a matte/shadow/reflection mental ray material, but it doesn't behave the same as the scanline matte/shadow. It catches the AO shadows, but the ground plane is still visible.
I'm sure this is possible through multiple render passes and combining in photoshop and all that good stuff, but it would be nice if I could just apply the material and render like I can with the scanline matte/shadow. Thanks in advance.

I got the ground plane to match up with the background, however, the AO doesn't seem to be working correctly, or at all for that matter. I have it checked on in the material parameters, but my objects are not casting any AO shadows onto the plane. Any ideas?
