Color paintover layer setup

hey,

i've been search for a thread i read a while back on how to set up doing a colour paint over on a render of a model. in the tutorial it used a gun to show how to render out a grey version of the model out to photoshop and then split the render into layers, allowing color to be sketched on while keeping all the shading from the model's render.

I can't find this thread at all, if any one knows what i'm referring to and can share where the tread, it would be grand.

Haven't seen the thread, but I've done similar stuff before. Just set the lighting layer to Overlay or Multiply, and underneath it paint your colorizing layer (with a base of gray or whatever you like)
