Hey guys, I decided to redo an old model of Balrog I posted on here a couple years ago. Since my modeling skills progressed, I couldn't stand to look at the old model anymore, so I decided to give him a make over. I'm gonna present this piece as a high poly render. I'm currently fixing textures and setting up my render scene for a final shot. Please comment on my new model.

Very good work. As someone said, the clothes look a little plasticky, and to look more like Tyson / Mike Bison - the thighs should be slightly more exaggerated, and the calves slimmed down. Tyson has epic thighs used to generate the huge power in those hooks, but pretty slim calves. The character design pre SF4 is pretty much like this too.
If you're going for the more exaggerated SF4 look, that's cool, but I think the calves still stand out as being too big, he should look more top heavy.
Cyrael - Mike Bison don't got no cauliflower ear -
- there arn't any rules in streetfighting, so I figured it'd make sense to have his ears a little more messed up..
I say keep the ears as they are, to be more in tune with the character.
His ears look a little funny in that pic, but still not cauliflower-ish, I think his lobes just stick out a bit. Cauliflower ear is almost the opposite of that, squished little ears with no discernible shapes.
PS - I want to know who owns the epic schnoz in the shadow.
It's ironic we're discussing Tyson's ears when he is actually most famous for Cauliflowering someone else's ear hardcore.
Loraine Howard iii: I agree with the comment about boxers ear being relatively tame compared to UFC fighters, just throwin' out some suggestions... Wrap this piece up cus i'm diggin' it hardcore! I've always wanted to get around to doing some SF art. Always loved the game..
Well that kind of ear is common within wrestling beacuse of the damage the ears keeps taking.
I quote Wikipedia
Personally i'd just go with a softer/more satin fabric texture.
I would however tend to agree with rumblesushi about the legs being too thick.
As he is now I would actually be anticipating him to kick me rather than punch me, looks like a kickboxer more than a boxer. That or maybe fatten up the gloves... Just need to make sure it looks like 100% of the pain is going to come from those fists.
Planning on doing any more SF characters?
Bishop- Thanks alot for the props, Actually I want to model Gen since he's my favorite character.
Visceral- I thought Balrog killed Ryu, didn't you see the tattoo on those Terran shoulders:)
wizo- Thanks Dude
3dRyan- Thanks for your comment, I stayed up like all night trying to finish.lol
the clothes look a bit off though, they are a bit high in specular, especially the white bits, I would tone it all down
and/or drop the glossiness on it all.
apart from that.. the model details and shaders looks amazing.
character looks great though! excellent stuff man!
did a crap paintover to illustrate.
Love your model of him though, I like that you've gona with a proportionate head. The gloves look properly spot on. If I had one thing to criticise I would say the wraps could do with some variation on one side.
With the nylon I think you need to tone down the sag, nylon weighs next to sod all.
Cerulean-thanks man
Firebert- thanks for your paintover, When I get more time I'll fix the background.
woody_294- yeah the gloves do need more variations.
