Greetings everyone. I know I probably look a bit new here, but I've been visiting the site for ages and absolutely love the work people have done here. (For all the games, not just UT2k4) Anyways, I figure I'll open with a request, that is if anyone has some time to spare? I know it's a lot of hard work to do these kinds…
Nice, that other Chris posted some good points before I was done writing. This is a pretty great level overall. I like the overall palette, feel, setting and soundtrack. The video itself: All of the best shots in this video don't have god-rays and are focusing on a visual point of the area. All of the god-rays shots are…
I've hardly ever used drawing tablets and I'm thinking of picking up a cheap Wacom to play about with. I saw a post here a while back praising the new Wacom Bamboo Pen tablet and was just wondering .. as the Pen only tablet does not have an eraser, is it worthwhile getting the Pen and Touch instead, as it has an eraser on…
I figure I'll start a WIP thread. I did one way too late in my last project, and I want to get in the habit of posting updates and working on this workshop item. I've already started a few weeks ago. Here is a collection of photos and comments from the start until now. I'll post more as I continue to work. March 10, 2017…
Hi there, I'm Adrien, belgium' student since 4 years, graduated as 3D designer. I'm still student at the same school (ESIAJ) but i've chosen to specialise myself in video games this new years. I'm working with 5 others people (two 3D artist, two programmers and one sound designer) and we choose to create a…
The wood is a big deal. What you need to ensure is that your wood grain is consistent throughout. Also, it is much, much too noisy at the moment and too varied. Run it through a high-pass filter on photoshop maybe to ease it up. Decide on a hue/satuation/value as your wood base. It's best to go less saturated and lighter.…
Hey Cobe. I am new at this too and I know that it isn't easy at the begging because you see so many things and concepts that you finally get dizzy. But polycount has a lot of users willing to help the begginers and that's awesome. Some of them even make video-tutorials so you can understand those concepts and the workflow…
Good idea and tutorial @Steppenwolf, I'll try that next time I make a tree. @KrisLW I also didn't think about "aving an extra polygon or two on your cards to get a closer fitting edge is what you want, so the computer doesn't have to render vast areas of transparency for no reason." I'll be sure to keep that in mind next…
I was looking around sketchfab last night and found these two: https://sketchfab.com/models/c99d329166cb46bbaf3c398bab73424e https://sketchfab.com/models/21b40edc94104acbad85b825ed45733c It looks like they just used a combo of hair cards and shell fur technique. I just used hair cards for the badger, but I think using…
Not really, in my opinion (signed for it twice before). It's a better deal if they run it for 5-6 weeks AND allow you to download the videos. Or, cut the fee to $75 for just 2 weeks of access. Or, pick and choose the videos and instructors you like carte blanche style for a more flexible fee rate. You'll find that some…
