If it's to do with hardware specs, it'll be that epic for some reason disabled pathtracer for pascal cards, I don't think 1050s were ever enabled for hardware raytracing at all anyway. You need a 2060 or better for it now. Though, I don't know anything about what vray is doing inside UE these days and that wouldn't explain… -

Out of memory during baking error (3d max)
I keep getting this memory error while trying to bake from high poly to lowpoly, even after a full cpu restart with no other programs running. I have 2 gigs of ram, intel duo core 2.66ghz cpu. My high poly is about 3.7 million tri's, could that be the problem? In my baking settings I have active Light Tracer and Enabled… -
3DS Max's Chamfer's "Smooth to Adjacent" gives perfect face weighted normals but doesn't export
Enabling "Smooth to Adjacent" in 3DS Max 2016's Chamfer modifier gives you perfect face weighted normals (1), however, adding any modifier on top or exporting to fbx breaks it and smooths only the chamfers (2). I've done this by using a path tracer, like V-Ray, and a baking tool like Bake To Texture in 3ds Max. Simply make the emissive a light-emitting material, and let the renderer cast the light onto the rest of the mesh. Then bake the lighting into the UV layout of the mesh. Here's an example model… -
