Hello all,
This is boiling my head and at my end I can't get proper collision on open tubes/cylinders.
Collision mesh capped & polys flipped:

I am starting to wonder if this is even possible without using Enable Per Poly Collision which plays bad once you hit the sides and also comes with a performance price.
Is there a work around because the above collision is useless

As you've already discovered, inverted faces and open geometry don't work at all.
it wont work like your expecting, since collision hulls must be convex, and also must be solid.
Just had to thicken the collision mesh !!!
