Hello. I have a problem. After i try use 3ds max baking option to get a normal map, to my low poly model form high poly model, i got some baking errors. When i start render to texture, my render window shows me miss rays on my normal map (the red dots). I have tried adjust a cage on my low poly model and i got good looking…
so i've been pondering upgrading my computer. i bought a new dell XPS couple years ago and it works great and all but its just not cutting it for me. Sitting idol, fresh from booting up i'm using nearly 1/3 of my memory. When i open 3ds Max 2010, itunes, and some photo reference i'm pushing almost 70% mem useage. i also…
Or Momento Mori: Requiem. http://www.playrequiem.com/ Anyways, after taking a break from this game for about a year because this game had many bugs, I finally planned to go back and see how things are. The maps are slightly changed, there are mounts and questlines were fixed. It was amazing!! Until i realized that them…
Hi! Judging from the screenshots, you use match by name and it doesn't give any matching errors. I wonder what the preview cage looks like? If you want a second pair of eyes, share the meshes (zip & attach to post).
Normal maps are meant to override the shading, but generally, yes; you want a good low poly to get clean, predictable bakes. If your low poly model also has smoothing errors, you've likely got some underlying geometry issues that are independent from how you baked it. And if you're deriving your high poly from the same low…

I know there is a overhead but atm I'm trying to understand the benefit in max off multithreading. It still seems to create them 1 by 1 instead of multiple at the same time.…
Hello, fellow Polycounters! until now I was usually able to fix my 3D issues by myself, but on this one, I did not found a satisfying solution. Warning: It's going to be a long post. To give you a little background: I am a student & environment artist and currently working on an environment for a VR game in Unity. My…
Hi, welcome to polycount! Right off the bat id say your composition is interesting, id be interested to see some concept art of any references you're using! Your lighting is looking a bit intense as far as brightness which is leaving everything feeling flat I think, and your textures look very low res. Some of your rocks…
I was more talking about specific styles/types, so like: Sports? Weddings? Portraits? Landscapes? Cityscapes? Interiors? Low light bars/clubs with friends? Low light exterior/nightscapes? Pets/birds? Vacation snapshots in daylight? Long exposures, for waterfalls etc? The specific sort of things you want to do will tend to…
