I am making this model for the course of characters for 3D games for next-gen Render Courses company. This is the first step where the student developed the body of the character. Polycount: 100k Tri.
HI, and welcome to Polycount! Early 3d games were made to run on very limited hardware, which could not render complex 3d shapes. The hardware could only render very few points at a time. So the models had to be very blocky. Blockout means using simplified shapes when designing a 3d model, or designing a game level. This…
@GabrielCardinal This is a 3d challenge, where you make one of the concepts chosen above into a 3d game model. I'm not sure if there is any equivalent challenge on the 2d forums, but if you are interested in doing 2D work Polycount has a section for that: http://polycount.com/categories/2d-art-showcase-critiques
Welcome to Polycount :) Softimage Mod Tool is another good free 3d app to start with. Oh and Wings3D is supposed to be a pretty good modeler, it's free as well, though I haven't tried it personally. The built in search function here on Polycount isn't too hot, I like to use Google Site Search instead.
I believe you mean Jon "Not The UFC Fighter, but the 3D Artist and Polycounter" Jones, who angry UFC fans on twitter think was Jon Jones the UFC Fighter this one time.

from France, moved to Quebec in 2015! If I remember well I found polycount as I was doing 3d for gta:sa mods, and found 3dsmax tutorials or something that is a story mr brian!!
This is pretty sick. 3D is such a close nit community eh. If anybody adds me, say you're from polycount or send a picture of a dog. More friends, the better! https://www.facebook.com/whiterecord
First of all, I want to introduce myself. My name is Oscar Acosta, and I am a character/3d artist. This is my first post in Polycount. This is a character I made recently. I wanted to create 3d version of a young, nerdy goblin girl sketch I made last year, while also practicing the creation of game assets. Kept the…
Hello Polycount! If you're an engineer, CAD enthusiast, or maybe you are just learning 3D CAD modeling, share some of your works in progress shots or showcase your final models here! I recently modeled this Knights Armament Company rail cover. I used simple calipers and got fairly accurate measurements. I spent yesterday…
