For a game character, is it typical to have a separate rig with includes face rig just for cinematics? An example case might be something like Uncharted. In cinematics you need a full face rig for acting, but in gameplay probably just a few blendshapes for the shape would suffice. The reason to have a separate rig would be…
Hi guys! This is Xi Chen. A Chinese girl who is right now studying game art in US. I'm working on Blizzard Student Contest and hoping to get some critic from you guys. I'd like to show my design concepts and any other WIPs. Thank you so much indeed! This contest means a lot to me. I'm a fan of Blizzard's game art style and…
hey polycounters, started this character for my 2nd year university project. would love some feedback while i work on it. I only have 2 more weeks on it so unfortunately cant change anything drastic. still have to rig and animate and in to unity. Progress so far... Concept(Design has changed a bit from this): Sculpt:…
Hello polycount people ! I'm currently working on this pinkish crocosaur. He's about 7 434 polys and I plan to animate him and integrate him in UDK and/or Unity. I wanted to create a monster from scratch to learn more about character workflow. For the moment, the crocosaur is modelled, textured, rigged and the skinning is…
So, I haven't been updating my stuff for a while, and since 2 weeks back I've been trying to get hand of Blender, leaving 3Ds max behind (still love max, but I can't afford it tbh). Why such a simple modell? This is mainly to get into Blender and also be my way in to improving my UVW and texture skills. For the past month…
I'm working on a retired Demon next gen character. He will be modelled, textured and rigged. I started thinking about what he could look like. I wanted him to be ghostly like, with medieval armour covering him. This was my initial idea anyway. After some thought and realisation that to create that character I would have to…
Hey everyone. Taking a little break from my other scene to focus on something else for a while now. I want to dig deeper into the Megascans ecosystem and I found this image a while back from Stranger Things that I thought was quite moody. This small scene fits me quite well right now because I can both experiment with…
So...I have a bit of a challenge for myself. 1 week to do an off road vehicle, rigged, and textured. fun times. It will be an interesting experience as I want to use zBrush to help with the hard surface modelling...and I'm far from good at using zBrush. So far, I have this as my reference: Hopefully, i will have a decent…
Hello there! I am very new to character modeling, this is my third try at doing a finished low-poly hand-painted character! Her name is Mariposa and she is a character I designed a few months ago. I thought her detailed design might looks really nice in 3D, so I've decided to try and model her out and maybe rig and animate…
Made some progress. Splayed out and bent the fingers a bit, tweaked the torso to an extent, and modelled all the armour and clothing pieces. Not planning to rig the model, so I'll manually drag the wings into place during posing. Sculpting and texturing left. Comments and criticism greatly needed and appreciated.
