I don't know of any scenario where maya could write to one set of preferences and read from another, but try checking your maya.env. This sounds to me like an OS issue, but I'd think maya would complain if it couldn't write to the preferences file or the entire folder, but maybe it doesn't. I'd suggest checking that… -

Oh, thanks. Sadly, the script isn't up anymore. On the other hand, i can't believe maya doesn't have this kind of tool builtin. The main idea is I have to export the final mesh to a game engine, so it has to be skinned. Wrap deformer will work only inside of maya. Maybe there is someone else how can share another technique… -

I learned Maya first then got into Max. Maybe it's because I was more self taught at Maya and had more instruction available with Max, but I give credit to Max for being the easier to use program. I probably would've been better off learning Max first. However, there's something cumbersome about navigating in the viewport… -
