well, hmm the subject says it all.. I want to try and get some parallax effects going but i got shut down at the heightmap.. I cant get this to work All that i get from the bake is a completely white map. what i wanna do is render out a heightmap from my highpoly object togheter with the normalmap rather than having to…
Been lurking for a few days, and decided it's time to strike. I'd be posting this in the challenge section, but things are sort of busy right now, so I'd feel bad if I made a thread but never actually got around to finishing it before the deadline. Anyway, the sort of idea I had going here was this grizzled, looting…
General asset quality and bakes are pretty good. The main thing that catches my eye is this weird clash between interior design and industrial supply dock... You got the smooth corners, glass, colours, wood floor etc... which seem to be from a home interior. But then these industrial doors and supply pallets... The scene…
Those viewers probably expect triangles - if you don't have any they won't be able to render it. Just add some, shouldn't be too difficult if you're generating edges as you have all the information you need
Hello, i've been looking for a website with a listed understanding of texture sizes relative to polygon count, but i have been unable to track one down. I was wondering if anyone hear knows the answer.. I've heard saying before where when you are 2.2 million or more its best to use a 4096x4096 map, but what about…

Contract enviroment artist in the US - everything I make is owned by the client. Now if you made generic models and sold them wholesale that would be a different story. When you do stuff for a company making a game you're making a unique piece that by selling to another company would devalue the asset.
I want to share the Photoshop extensions I released recently. I realized while working on Overwatch that ever since Quixel Suite died off, there hasn’t been a good way to paint normals or generate normal/AO/cavity maps inside of Photoshop. Blizzard had their own tools for doing so but there hasn’t been a publicly available…
Welcome to Polycount! Did you know you can embed images directly here on the forum? You can use the URLs from Imgur, or you can just drag-and-drop them directly into the post editor. It's generally better to embed images, than to ask people to open a link to see things. Less steps for people, and if you remove friction you…
After months without something new I'm coming back with something a little bigger than usual and of course it can flight. Modeled with Blender and render with Marmoset Toolbag.
