Nailed it. Over done sharpen post. It was popping all the edge highlights especially the ones with bright spec. Still can't get a handle on AA though. Got some pretty jagged edges especially from a distance. Need to figure everything out before I retake all those screenshots again.
the second lid looks a little thin. You also shouldn't need all those points coming to a point at the front of the bowl, round out those edge loops in the front and it can make it a bit rounder at the front there. Just delete those edges in front and create new ones that wrap around the bowl...
Yeah, after you've seen that you'll realize HOW MANY freakin' movies were shot in there. And prolly the inspiration for that level in Mirrors Edge. Now it's raining like a mofo with some strong winds. We're getting the edge of it now, so the main bit hasn't hit yet, but from the looks of it, it's over for us.
I'm making some pavement pieces for my scene. Here is an example of the references im following. Most of the paving slabs are quite rough with the edges heavily sculpted, how would you go about creating a low poly version of these, and ones similar, is it okay to use mesh labs in this case? or is it better to create the…
I'm having an issue with making normal maps with 1 smoothing group. The 1 smoothing group makes the edges look really great. But it warps alot of things like the screw and the 2 widgets. It obviously looks right when the camera is looking at the edges normal. There are also the issue of the random shading problems that…
I'm getting problems with the way that dDo is texturing my AR15 model with "Smart Textures". I'm getting very hard seams on objects that are flat (Front of the magazine, and front of pistol grip), and VERY exaggerated scratches. I want to have much more subtle edge wear and tear, but obviously, where dDo is placing the…
When I bake normals from a highpoly to a lowpoly model in 4k resolution I always get these weird edges. Any ideas on how to get a more clean result? I have tried .tga and .tiff using the "ray distance calculator". I was thinking it was the normals maps attempt to make the edges softer, but you can see them when applied to…
So ive been out of the max scene for a while, and now im starting to come back. with 2015 im noticing that when backface cull is turned on, i cant see any internal edges of my objects, just the borders. is there a way i can make it so i can see the edges from the inside/opposite side of my mesh, without a shaded face?
How do you create a blade like this? curves or box modeling? What about the edges? I am thinking about creating a box and just merge the edges and work on the details.. but I once made a knife using CV curves and it did work.. so.. what is the best option?…
Hi everybody! New to Polycount. This is a model I've been working on for the past few days, very out of practice though (haven't modelled for about 3 or 4 years now). Any feedback is appreciated, I'd be looking at completing this high poly and baking it to a low poly mesh I suppose. Some of the edges appear sharper than…
