Eh, I signed up for a intro modeling with Maya class at a community college this Fall but might have to drop out because of my background actor gig throughout the rest of the year. And I am not sure if I am missing a lot because AFAIK they teach some basic character modeling, and not much of the hard surface modeling even…

Hi! My name is Simon Lindwall. I am a concept artist, 3D artist and freelance illustrator. I mostly make character concepts, but I am working on my environment concepting skills. Feedback is much appreciated. I have studied at The Game Assembly in Malmö, Sweden and had a internship at IO Interactive. Looking for work right…
Hi, I agree with Kid.in.the.Dark, it's all about the concept. It's a very difficult thing to do, coming up with a good concept / design. So you should start with an existing concept, or work from a photograph. It helps a lot. Then you can focus only on the execution.
Getting scale to match a concept from 2d to 3d is tough, it looks like the room is longer in length in your 3d version then what is in the concept. Or maybe its just because the door appears to be so small in your version vs the concept..anyway keep at.
Hey guys. I'm just starting some textures on this low poly target dummy and I am having some issues figuring out how to approach the light source. If I go directly off the concept art it seems to be awkward if its mirrored uvs. Should I change the light source to a more direct one from the front of the dummy? here's the…
This was a test to see how fast I could bring a piece from a concept to realization. It took a great deal longer then expect a whooping two weeks, but all and all it was an excellent learning experience. The textures are 100% hand painted to emulate the concept art. The models were original done in Maya then exported into…
Heya man, this is a really interesting project you've got here! I'm definitely a fan of the original concept & rework done by @kohyunu so I'm looking forward to seeing how you fully translate her when finished. I think you could probably use some help in getting to the finish line so strap in - this is gonna be a longer…
Monday morning I decided to do a sprint model from concept and this was the result. I'm quite happy with the outcome and will take this further soon. I'll be using a Trim Sheet on this too The concept I referenced was on page 157 from The Art of Overwatch, Vertical Planter Concept
I wasn't referring to your model, I was referring to the "concept art" by firstkeeper. It's not a concept at all, it's an image of the finished model from Mists of Pandaria. You've effectively recreated an existing model from a photo, which is not the same thing as using someone else's concept painting.
