This might be a strange one. We've just noticed at work that on world aligned materials (which we're using for mesh ground tiles) when a mesh gets rotated the direction of the normals seems to rotate with it. To illustrate the problem, this is one plane duplicated four times and each rotated 90 degrees. The seam is the…
hey folks, I am currently teaching myself in character rigging while working on an educational project. So far I’ve been following the official character rigging tutorial from the maya learning channel on youtube. See the list of videos included in the tutorial here. Now it comes to the part where I want to create joints…
Hey guys, I have having this issue with max 2014 in the Unwrap UVW Modifier. When doing my final layout pass I often make slight adjustments to the rotation and scale of UV shells/islands (or what ever you want to call them). Most of the time when I make a fine adjustments to the rotation of a shell, max decides that it…
and lets not even mention the adumbration.. i switched to max9 from 6. in 6, 'rotation mode' was a keyboard stroke away to a very convenient free rotation. in max9, im supposed to click alt + middle mouse button. couldn't find anything specific set to alt+MMB in the costume UI menu, which means there's nothing to reconfig…
Hello. I'm in the process of making animations for a game engine. Animations for it require a specific rotation order for each bone. I prepared my rig in maya 2015 with the correct rotation order, animated it and now I'm stuck trying to get it into a bvh. I tried a bvh exporter script that a friend supplied me with, but it…
Hey guys, i've come across an issue in Max 2022(was previously using 2019). I have a mesh that has been triangulated for baking purposes but I want to duplicate a part and rotate it/mirror it to the opposite side. The issue is that when i rotate ANY part of the mesh, it turns black?? The faces look completely normal prior…
Is this a viable workflow (games or film): To change and key the rotation order mid-animation. Let's say frame 1-10, the upper arm rotation order is xzy and then I key at frame 11, to change it to zyx and continue on from there. Backstory Context: I mostly thought about this method as a solution to avoid gimbal-locking…
That didn't appear to have the necessary information. Anyway after an hour or so experimentation I've managed to work out all the necessary steps to get it working. The fact that you have to select the axis itself rather than the rotation axis node was what was tripping me up. Strange that the don't have a one button…
Thanks! Actually its not working for me :( I can Rotate the Pivot, LOL. But the Alpha doesn´t rotates. I dragged the Alpha with "Dots" in the Canvas. With other Drag Options i cant use "Rotate." With "Dots" i can rotate the Pivot, but the Alpha is not rotating, LoL :(
Hi, 3ds Max 2017 - box modeling. Rotating polygon scales edges in. How to rotate (to change direction) and keep exact scale? Or do you have to manually adjust vertex after the rotation? Thanks
