A little about myself. I graduated from Durham College's Game Development program a year ago, focusing primarily on modeling and texturing. I haven't been putting the skills I learned there to good use since I graduated, so I'm really looking forward to diving back into the industry again! I'm an avid watcher of Polycount,…
Hi my name is Jeff Pultz i have a lot of question about environment art and the pipeline of it. Would like some opinions or workflows from people with experience in that field. A short intro. I have just started on a 3D school where we work with 3Ds max, before that i worked a little with Maya myself. I have 6 month at…
There's no need for a splash page that just says "enter", go straight to the gallery. Put a finished game-rez model up top, so that spear. I think you put that car model up top because it's more complex, but if it's not game-rez with beauty renders and break downs it... kinda doesn't matter. It will just look WIP. I'm also…

I’ve reached the appropriate point to put this project on the backburner for a while. All the assets are unwrapped and baked, and are in Substance Painter. When I return to this, the only program I should have to open is SP, and I can start painting immediately. The screenshots below show how I’ve split the meshes into…
I would not assume that it is synced to max, no. It could be that their engine can read the tangents and binormals from the fbx file and thus 'act' synced. It should also be noted that most modern engines will just read the tangents and binormals from the fbx file. Therefore, 1 bake from xnormal should look pretty much…
BBFirefly Thanks for the heads up. Your right, I should do another outside scene, thinking an urban abandoned building. Gathered some reference material here. ClusterOne I agree the lighting does look very flat; I mainly made this scene as a portfolio piece that could aid me in applying for various similar roles like…
@pior yeah for sure, there are a lot of things you can do with modern lookdev tools like Toolbag to get a very good idea of the final result before you even think about lowpoly/uvs/bakes. Personally I throw updates into TB throughout the process, similar to you, that look something like: * Blockout for major proportions *…
