This is my last post before heading out to England to see what all the hoopla is over for old bricks and guys with funny hats. With that, I thought I'd make it a fun one: Halo Reach's Forge World. And my friends, it looks great. And I'm not even a Halo player. Forge World As an environment artist myself, I absolutely love…
Hello all! I just got myself a Bamboo Connect CTL 470 to work with Hand Painted Texture and I would love to get some feedback from the community. I never painted anything before since my kidding garden so my skills aren't very good at this time. I know nothing about painting. But I'll improve. I want to work with texture…
Coating Vertex Material Shader Dual base materials with a coating material such as snow or moss. Almost every aspect of this shader is a parameter. The snow/moss can be changed to any other material you want. Mud, dirt, water, ice, WHATEVER. The same can be said for the bricks and stone materials. As long as you have a…
I am the Michael Jordan of Jenga. Here I am putting on my game face. Here I am. Soaring. Now I need to unleash my massive Jengaman23 brand campaign on the world, but first, I need a trite and derivative logo produced. Witness the eponymous Jumpman23 brand image. See how it captures Jordan's grace? His ability to levitate?…
Hey folks Been a long time since doing an environment and really need to improve my skills in this area! I'm hoping for some guidance in composing a small themed environment based upon the "temple of Poseidon" and Games workshop "Dawn of War - Necrons". I'm using the temple structure as my main concept and a "sarcophagus"…
Hi everyone! I'm currently working on big buildings (more info and tricks how I did those later) But one part of the buildings are the huge LED signs. I need some help with them... I'm not 100% satisfied with how they're turning out. Does someone have tips, tricks, documents, video's etc on how to make these huge LED signs…
Cheers for the advice passerby. Looking at it a bit more I see there's quite a few ways I could use "tricks" to speed up this process. For instance, if I was to just use the Tessellate modifier it adds in a bunch of geo and retains the UVs. I can then bake out a decent-ish map and apple to the original model. The results…
MUCH BETTER! Keep going with this. It's ok to rework textures. You'll do the new ones in 1/2 the time and better. You'll learn tricks to speed you up. Keep on going! Little trick overlay the concept art on top of your render/screenshot and click the layer on/off. Even make an animated gif if you want. Find what's out of…
Looks like this did the trick. Initially I imported an obj with even topology but that still didn't work. I went back to Max and added a few turbosmooth iterations and that seems to have done the trick. I've been reluctant to add a turbosmooth cause I wanted to have a really low poly to work with from the start, but that…
Quite good. For awhile when I was working from home, I got harassed quite a bit. Then I started doing this little trick. Telemarketer calls, introduces themselves. I say "Oh, hang on just one second." Then I just put the phone down on the floor, while they're still on the line. Pop on my headphones and go back to work.…
