My only concern at this point is that the 2014 date sounds real late. The other two consoles will be out this year. And I'm sure 2014 will turn to late 2014.

I've created a camera in maya, and turned on resolution gate. The default 640 x 480 came up. In render settings, i turned it to 300 x 800. The resolution gate doesn't chage, but the numbers do update to 300x800. When I render, I get 640x480 squished into 300 x 800. Any ideas? I thought it might be something I can set in…

Thnaks for the advice, looks like the 4080 it is . I was a bit concerned about the later RTX cards for the reason you mentioned ie overheating. can't afford to buy a fancy brick :) Not sure what GB the 4080 is, would be good to get 24 , though more likely 16
