This has been bugging me for a while now. I'm a real rookie when it comes to modelling but I always like to try and get everything connected as one solid element. But then I see images where people have obviously used several different objects just placed together. I was wondering what the industry standard was when it…
Does anybody know how to speed up the workflow in Max when working with extremely large objects. I'm talking moon sized objects, roughly 2 miles across kind of size. The windows tend to get a bit wonky with rendering the textures and it's hard to move stuff around...
How best can this be done? Was discussing this with a friend the other day about combining 2d and 3d animation, preferably 2d for characters and 3d for environments and props. I am thinking u do the animation of the character grabing and holding an imaginary stuff or a placeholder of the supposed 3d object.Export animation…
Hi there, (Like a few others here) I have been given the assignment to create a number of 3D models for a college project, each of which has a set limit on tris. The project was split into 2 parts, firstly a set of 4 objects, each with a 500 triangle limit, and a texture size of 512x512. The objects were: -A melee weapon…
Hello, I'm UV Mapping a gun in 3D Max and I'm having a hard time figuring out how I can get multiple objects onto one UV Map. I know how to Unwrap the objects but they all have their own UV Map. Can anyone tell me how I can do this? Thanks in advance
Does anybody know how to rotate an object around the mouse cursor in 3ds max? i don't wish to rotate an entire object for positioning purposes, rather i am looking for a way to rotate an objects vertices around a single point or mouse cursor for modelling purposes. I will try my best to explain. 1) Here we have a basic box…
Refraction sorting works best when the any element inside or behind the refractive element is split into a separate mesh/object. If the inside bits are part of the same object as the transparent element, try splitting them into unique objects and reexporting.
Eric your right, but baking is not perfect and things can get messed up if the cage of one object intersects the area of another object. Slosh, Bek that's a great way of thinking outside of the box. Wait slosh how can I move multiple layers at the same time with smart objects.
Hi guys! making a portfolio peace and stuck with UV. I have pretty long object and dunno how to slice it properly. I wanna make as little as possible seams and in 1 variant it's just streched out from some point because it need to be fit in UV square, and second variant where I add seams in the middle compensate stretching…
Say u have an animated camera shot with moving objects and u need to zoom into the shot to tweak or animate the object with reference to the shot. Is there a way to do this in 3dsmax? I found this: http://www.11secondclub.com/helpful_hints/zoom_in There is a mention of the zoomerator script but its for Maya. Is there a…
