Is there ANY way to render the smooth mesh preview (3 key) with maya software renderer? This is for an animation shot on maya 2013. Thanks for any help you can provide.
My first real venture into high poly modelling. Modeled, and mostly textured within blender. Rendered with Blender's Cycles rendering engine. Render took about 7 minutes.

I am attempting to render "smooth" meshes for a scene in Maya. Renders fine in Maya Software mode (but doesn't show smooth meshes) but when I switch to Mental Ray the render comes out black. All materials are Lambert, all textures are jpegs.
Can you get the same results with GPU rendering as CPU? I know there are some limitations for GPU renders. But if you compare the results of Corona/Vray/Arnold CPU renderers with Arnold/Vray GPU versions do they result in loss of quality compared to CPU? Hi everyone, I'm rendering out an animation for a music video and I'm having a problem. When I render out the test stills it looks great but when rendering batch it makes the image significantly lighter, almost a washed out look. Could anyone give me any advice on this? I''m using Maya 2010 Thanks
Rendering images of the directx preview with normal maps was pretty easy in XSI 5. I used ultimapper to create the preview material and then I had to change the rendering engine to directx to render images of the directx viewport. In XSI 6 I use the same method to create the material but the render options has changed.…
