Rendering images of the directx preview with normal maps
was pretty easy in XSI 5.
I used ultimapper to create the preview material and then
I had to change the rendering engine to directx to render
images of the directx viewport.
In XSI 6 I use the same method to create the material but
the render options has changed. When I change the render
engine from Mental Ray to Hardware I cannot select directx,
only opengl. Anyone knows how to render images with directx
in XSI 6?
I use WinXP with directx 9.0c. I hope its not necessary to
update to Windows Vista and DirectX 10.

a xsi developer. Seems I have to wait for a patch:
"The problem is that DirectX9 and below don't really
support off-screen buffers in any usable fashion.
We've been working on a fix for that but it didn't
make it in time for the XSI 6.0 release."

'Alt+5' -> add-ons -> Cg Addon -> Pixel lighting -> (often used choice) "Phong Bump Textured SpecularMap 2L" and drop it onto your model.
Adjust the maps in rendertree '7' and make shure (I need to change it everytime..) that the specularmap uses the right UVW-Projection.
