Hey guys i was wondering if there was a way you could have a decal that has an emissive and can cast light on things? Like an emissive for a static actor but just with a decal?
Hey allI got given good news yesterday by Epic Games. They approved my decal pack and now it is published on the UE4 marketplace. Feel free to check it out here: https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/30-decal-pack-dirt-cracks-and-holes Description 30 decals, all 4K, all ready to go. Consists of 10 Dirt decals, 10 crack…
I noticed something strange when standing from a distance a shadow/black outline appears on my decals which I don't want. When I approach the decal it disappears. Anyone have any ideas what is causing this issue? Cast shadow is unchecked in the properties of the decal.
Anybody know the best way to display an object with decals in 3ds max viewport? I'm using 2012, but the decal w/ alpha seems to be z-fighting with the object. Thanks.
Can a decal material be used with Vertex paint the same way a regular material can? I made some graffiti decals, and wanted to add a way to paint parts of them out so that I could get more mileage from one material, but since the decal basically rests "on top" of the geo it doesn't appear to be letting me paint it. Is it…
https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/skinned-decal-component As you know by default decals do not follow the bone deformations in Unreal Engine, this plugin allows you to project decals that follow bone deformations on skeletal meshes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mpjmf9cHos
Is there a way to have a decal texture sheet full of decals and somehow have a mask for each one that the decal actor can switch between? I'm currently trying to figure it out but thought i'd ask here to see if it were even possible or if i'd have to make a new material for each one. Thanks
Another option, especially if it isn't in UDk, make a decal plane. UDk can project decals, so make a decal material therefore. But a decal would be more ideal in the long run - keeps things as separates so more combinations.
I agree with ashervisalis, but also google mesh decals and edge decals. Edge decals is a tehnique where you add wear and other stuff to the edges of big meshes like buildings. Mesh decals is what is called inside UE4.
