(Apologies if this has been covered before, but searching didn't seem to find a pertinent topic.) I understand that Digital Tutors seems to be the standard for how-to videos, but I'd like to get a good reference and instructional book as well. Should I just go with the official book by Derakhshani or is something like…
I just checked out ZBrush's subtool master but I can't seem to figure out how to export the whole mesh as a single obj. Surely it isn't that hard, right? But I can only seem to export everything as a separate obj. Worse, the only tutorial I can find is on digital-tutors and they want me to pay for that simple export…
Hello, This thread is where I will be posting any art I am currently working on. I am a game art student always trying to improve myself on anything from pixel art, digital painting, 3D modeling or anything I'm in the mood to try. I'm open to critiques and feedback so I can improve to the best of my ability. :)

Hi, I'm a student digital arts and animation and I'm trying to create a nice animation piece for my reel. Here is a small scene that I created in UE4. It is based off of a digital painting I like that I found on the interwebs (painting by artist Timothy Rodriguez). :poly136: Original painting (by Timothy Rodriguez): My UE4 render: And here a few breakdowns of the scene... diffuse only: (not sure why decals disappear when…
Hi polycounters, I'm finally creating a thread here for progress tracking. Here's a a small introduction: I'm 32, working full-time as a senior software engineer. Recently I've started learning digital sculpting in my free time. My goal is to switch to game industry career in couple years, thus I would really appreciate…
That's awesome, gotta do what you love! I work with an artist that's 60 years old who doesn't plan on retiring for another ten. He's a 2D artist but still doing his thing in the CG/digital world, never had the desire to be an art director/manager, just loves his craft.
Any news when are coming the beginner tutorials, but any ideas if you´re going to partner with learning places as Pluralsight/Digital Tutors? One more question if I learn Quixel Suite 1 and then follow up the workflow primer I´ll basically know how to use Quixel Suite 2?
My advice would be to get your hands on Digital Tutor's intro to Maya/Max. Do exactly what they do, click for click. It isn't the most fun way to learn, but it'll give you a grasp of the basics. I second what someone said earlier about studying low topology as well.
