Nevermind I figured it out. If you add a paint layer between the objects, it shades out the objects above and shows the painting behind it, but when you finalize it only shows up on the layers below. -

@Ashervisalis the letters would most likely be painted on top of the yellow paint. Regardless you still have a point because if paint gets chipped off it would not only affect the red paint layer but all paint layers and bare metal should be showing like you said. As it looks now this would only be the case if red stickers… -
