Thanks for replying,Eric.I am using Maya.I posted a thread like this before and it was of how cloth and hair were animated for games and the answers are exactly like the one in the thread u posted.I have been having a difficult time simulating anything in 3d(Maya)as its intensive, time consuming and tweaking parameters that…
Should I retopo clothes like these after being folded or before? In other words, should I treat them like a solid mesh that will never be unfolded, or the folding will be done in-game to ensure proper behavior during animation? I don't know game engines and I can't imagine how this will be tackled in game. I can ensure…
Hello all! I apologise if the title made it sound like I had some insight on it - it's the other way around. I'm a newbie modeller, and I'm doing a character with a cape for a game. My problem is: * Should I make the cape with thickness? Or just a planar thing? * (This is more technical and related to Unity) How should I…
Hey guys, Im new to making video game characters and have had a question about clothing for a while now. I'm making cloth pieces with collars and I wanted to know if for the thickness of the collar is it generally just single sided with a really good normal map or is it double sided? The shirts are to be designed to be…
I have a problem. Working on something that involves a cloth wrap going around a pole, and I can't think of an time efficient manner in which to wrap a piece of cloth around the pole, while maintaining a slightly random pattern so it looks like it was done by a person, continuity in the wrap so it looks like it's been done…
I am creating a cape for the "Waframe" game, which is built on "Evolution" engine. They require in their guide to describe cloth movement with not more than 64 bones. So this is my model And I plan to make those braided ropes, which connect metal elements (what should not be deformable), to be deformable, but resistant to…
Finally got through making my first proper character; I have never modeled any clothing prior to this and ended up using Marvelous Designer and imported into Maya to touch up and complete. Most of the work was done in Maya, such as the head, arms and shoes. Touching up and adding more details to the clothing was done in…
As I stated before, you would want to choose your method differently for different objects of the projects. For example: Cloth texture = spotlight Logo on cloth texture = spotlight seams on the cloth = UV etc. I hope you understand what I mean. So there isnt any specific pro way of doing this? =\
I had a question regarding rigging. This weekend, I plan to rig a Batman character and I've been tossing a few ideas back and forth about how to rig his cape. My goal is to have something similar to that of Arkham City, where it's a combination of both bones and cloth-sim; except, all done through 3ds Max. I don't need a…
Look, if you only sculpt creatures and never learn to make clothing you will have a very hard time finding a job as a character artist, which is already pretty hard. My guess is that you don't like to make clothing because you're just not good at it yet. So pratice making clothing until you get it.
