Whenever I select a group vertices to snap using vertex snap, it only snaps according to the center of that selection rather than the vertices themselves. So for example if i select 2 different verts, the pivot is that the center of that distance. And the snap only works on the pivot selection and not the verts themselves.…

The lock ups don't happen every time but often enough that I have to save before translating an object through the geometry of another object. Working in wireframe mode prevents this but naturally that's not always practical. Is there a setting that can correct this or is my hardware crapping out?

never seen the bug before, but have you tried copying the UVs to a new UV set and using that one? then maybe copy it back to map1?
