Polygons are treated by your video card as groups triangles. When you have long, thin triangles, changes in the polygon normal that wouldn't usually be noticeable suddenly pop out because the shading is very abrupt. Because these n-gons are made up of multiple triangles and some sides of the n-gon are shorter than others,…
Hello, I'd suggest cutting you're pelt map in half as it seems it map tear near the top of the map - also, judging by the model the worm would slither and move along the floor, so underlying polygons on the bottom would probably be parallel to the ground otherwise he won't be able to go anywhere :) BTW, you could probably…
thanks pea, I cant wait to get some more time to play with this! there is a convert to polygons button on the voxel menu so that you can export a polygon version of the model or go ahead and sculpt it but it is rather high poly. There may be many good reasons to retopologise though but Im no expert, pior probably knows…
Ok quick question. I have a modular piece where I have deleted some polygons in the back the player will never see. When I put a dominate directional light it of course shines right through the backface of the model causing lighting problems. One guy mentioned somthing about making the material 2 sided. How do you do that…
I've recently started my next personal project, an environment in the style of Ratchet and Clank. Included in that environment would be Aphelion. I started there. This is my low poly version. I just finished it. So, I haven't started cutting out polygons, if I even need to(let me know if I should). With everything…
I have tested 3DSMax 2014 with a Nvidia GTX 560ti, and it performed a lot better than previous versions in Directx 11 (Shaded + highlights). 5-20 Million polygon scenes. For lower polygon counts 3DSMAX 2011 with a Nvidia GTX 9800 still seems faster in shaded + highlight mode. Can someone test the 3DSMax viewport…
Hello there, I am unwrapping some geometry and I am having a problem with the planar gizmo. If I align the gizmo to certain axis, and then rotate it for a better fit, the gizmo gets all blown out of proportion and seems to stretch to areas where no polygons even exist. The nature of the gizmo as I know it wont include…
In this thread I want feedback on my rifle and it will be shown from WIP to finished as time goes on. Just started today... basic model w/o details. I plan on adding the top and bottom rails today w/ split polygon tool. See where I go from there... waffle mag etc. Started up my ACR rifle... basic model so far nothing fancy…
this one has puzzled me... I'm working with models from the old DeEspona collection. The house in the video consists of a main object (polygons) and some other kind of objects for the glass, doors and frames. The main polygonal object is fine, but I don't know what kind of object the glass, doors and frames are... & I…
hey guys, i have a generall question about normal maps, especially for the LP and HP objects. When creating the LP object from the HP object, do i need to care that all the LP polygons are above the HP ones? Or is it equal ? The same question when creating a HP from a LP obejct, after applying turbo smooth to the LP and…
