Hey everyone. Havn't been doing much art, so I found a old SD Art test I figured I would take a shot at. My idea was to make it into a offshore strip club/bar type thing, and call it Salty's. Here is my progress so far. Rocks are 100% place holders, this is my basic idea though. I intend to fill the deck up with more…
That's from Ubisoft Shanghai director Michael De Plater, speaking about Endwar in this interview: http://www.videogaming247.com/2008/10/08/ubisoft-creative-director-piracys-basically-killing-pc/ , in which he claims releasing a pc version alongside the two others would result in much lower sales for the consoles, as people…
"so when I did the uvs and assigned a texel density" "i'm confused :/" You're confused ... because there's no such thing as "doing UVs and assigning a texel density". This simply doesn't exist - or perhaps, you are being confused by a tool introducing the concept of "texel density "in its own way (for instance scaling UV…
I would think there is a way to export the mesh correctly scaled from Pixys Studios or inventor. If it's importing with incorrect scaling into max from an FBX, then something is incorrect with the scale before it's even imported. Max won't apply scale to fbx's that have models with say 235% scale or whatever, it'll retain…
Hey All, When I go to add a "Create Morph Target" to my face mesh; the face mesh moves to the left on screen when I move the spinner from 0 to 100. The mesh is deforming correctly but it is just moving. What am I missing here to cause the Mesh to move to the left? If I do a "Load Multiple Targets..." the 1st target gets…
Hey folks, I've been working on a simple scene in Max for camera matching and compositing... camera match and making matte objects was easy enough, it's just the lighting and matte rendering itself which is giving me headaches. I feel like I'm up against a brick wall with this one, I've scoured the Max help files to no…
To clear everyones confusion up on this, "specular" input lerps the reflectance between 0 and 100. It has a curve kind of thing applied on it, because when its set to 0.5 it gives the dielectric reflectance which is 4%. When its 1 you get 100 % reflectivity. Setting this lower than .5 gives lower reflectivity than a non…
@jul_lef Yeah the current algorithm still isn't 100% consistent in the way it scales the geometry, will be improving that in the near future along with the bridging algo too. The thing with the scaling that prevents me of doing it is mostly Maya's broken undo. See, when you import a mesh in a scene, Maya kills your undo…
Well it depends if you are trying to live off this and how difficult and unpleasnat the job is. Generally people who want to make a profit will charge 20hr minimum and they estimate how much it will take them to do. So if by some miracle for example you get a project to model a character and it takes you 20 hrs to model…
I am simply just adding a response, nothing more, i am not on a high horse or a low horse i like what i do and i present my own work, i do not see my work as any better than anyone else's just fyi. Dark black-grounds usually aren't that great &/or it takes some really technical eyes and know-how to get right, imho. Quick…
