As said above, good texturing with PBR materials, good lighting and 2dfx (like the smoke) and well optimised models. Here's a good quick example of high poly to low poly baked material use Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/blender/comments/1sgac0v/this_is_your_sign_to_learn_how_to_bake_normal_maps/ Or better yet here's a…
Check how it looks when materials are applied, and it’s put in a scene with lighting and camera angle. Many of these tiny issues become essentially invisible, in situ. But yes, triangles and ngons are ok, as long as they don’t adversely affect the shading. Usually fine on flatter areas.
I've been working on this tool for making a tiling material from an image. Think of it like a more fully featured crazybump and a cheaper Bitmap2Material. It'd be great to get some more hands on it to see where any faults are. http://www.boundingboxsoftware.com/materialize/signup.php
Hey guys, I have some substance materials that I really like and wish I could use in 3D Coat. Since 3D Coat does not support substance materials, does anyone know of a way to extract the textures from a substance material (such as color/depth/metalness, etc) so I can re-construct them in 3D Coat? Can I do it easily if I…
Hey Plycounters! o/ Im trying to create a kind of master blend material, but on the game viewport, the material looks like it is inside some plastic vacuum bag, also have some glitter effect. Below the image, from the nodes and the material. Does anyone know why this happens? and how to fix it? Thanks all
I haven't read it, but from the material that I saw from it (and a simple fact that it was assembled over the years of constant updates), you probably going to see that some menus were shifted over time to different locations, or we now have new features that make some things much easier (like new Array modifier). For…
Welcome to Polycount! This is a sweet design, it's nice to see non-conventional mechanical designs like this. The biggest thing for me is how difficult it is to get a "read" on the shapes. I think this happens because the materials are all very similar across the whole asset, so it's difficult for the eye to parse what the…

Hello everyone! I’ve been searching for answers to my questions for the past two weeks, but I still haven’t been able to find a solution. I built my PCG setup based on the official Unreal Engine 5.7 documentation and several YouTube tutorials. However, the solutions shown in those tutorials don’t seem to work in my case.…
