Hello, I'm new to Polycount so I hope I'm doing this feedback thing right :) Recently I applied for a 3D Artist job and I had to do this assigment: creating a mid poly ( under 20k tris) 3D model of Peterbilt Cabover truck with Diffuse, Roughness and Metallic maps for a mobile game. I ultimately didn't get the offer, so I'd…
I highly recommend reading these articles as well, on procedural material generation and theory. https://80.lv/articles/creating-an-assault-rifle-in-sunstance-3d-painter-and-unreal-engine-5 https://80.lv/articles/how-to-texture-worn-out-sniper-scope-in-substance-3d-painter
Hello! I'm trying to figure what's the most efficent way to break the tile on a landscape textures. Most of the youtube tutorials are pretty lame – they are based on T_Varations from StarterContent and the result looks like something covered with awful grunge texture. There's also OpenLand which I heard is pretty useful in…
I am getting a weird error here guys, maybe its something really simple to fix or i am just missing something stupid, but this is getting me crazy and nobody seems to have this error :( The problem is that once i have imported the model from max to udk the uvs seem to break, so it breaks my lighting uvs and the lighting…
Hello everyone, I haven't animated in a few months due to burnout but now I'm feeling good and want to get back to animating, I've animated an idle break using the Goblin rig Dancoo posted in community rigs and resources. It's pretty much my first time creating this kind of animation which shows just how much I stick to my…
@gnoop for sure! I've found the same, leverage procedural stuff for quick results but polish there is brutal, it's just so much easier to finalize in ZBrush. I'm usually sending things back and forth. I really enjoy starting tileables with sculpted heighmask chunks from zbrush. Then I'll usually have to paint stuff out.…
Nice work, this looks really sweet! If you’re open to feedback at this late stage, your presentations/flats could potentially benefit from some changes. The three-sword image is a bit confusing. The front and back views look like they have different lighting; this could be because you painted some lighting into the color…
Hey guys, does anyone have a good Max tutorial on making tank treads? I've seen some, but they either aren't for animation, or they cripple the mesh as it bends around the tread path. I also have some other max related questions, but I'll start that in a different post
So - I can't connect that multiply node to that break Vector 3f node I can pull out of the multiply, ask it for the break and it will place it - but the two nodes will never connect. The same happens if I just make fresh vectors. I can split the vector struct pin on the way out of the multiply so this can be worked around…
Neat idea, I love warped visuals like this! Reminds me a bit of that scene in Inception where they warped Paris. I think the metallic character detracts from the scene, because it’s in a t-pose, which isn’t a visually interesting shape. The concept has a twisted pose that’s more evocative. You’ve also repeated the…
