I have setup landscape mats in the past, but with newer versions of UE4, things have changed. I have my landscape setup like this, and its causing me nothing but issues. I cant seem to paint correctly at all. I have it set to "non-weight blended" and for some of the materials, it paints the terrain black. Sometimes I cant…
Hey guys I could use a bit of advice and some thoughts. I am currently working on an environment with my friend and we are trying to tackle laying down do ground materials. I am aiming for a really nice path material and a good forest floor material. The textures were taken at the park and I made them some what tillable. I…
Hi everyone, this question is for anyone with the UDK love. Basically, I want to make a material that will start 100% opaque and end 100% transparent. It needs disintegrate in specific areas. I seem to remember a material that did this when a character would die in UE3 and the body would sit there, eventually it would…
As i understand each Id map color means new material and new texture set in Substance. Can i have different materials on same set? How much materials characters and individual props usually have if i aim for PBR?
Hi, I learned there is no official workflow to scale the tiling of a complete Smart Material in Painter at once? You need to go in and manually adjust tiling scale etc. in all the layers? This is a major pain since I reuse a lot of materials from earlier jobs and I constantly run into this workflow issue. Is there some…
Hi! When i add materials they more often than not become super blurry and i dont understand why. When i restart i can add one material fine, but the second one get super blurry too. A sceenshot of one of the wood materials applied I have tried reinstalling quixel suite and i use Photoshop CC 2015 latest version.
I'm curious what one would have better performance and still remain flexible Instancing a substance 8 or so times - Separate material for each substance instance - Easier to iterate in substance (less jumping back and forth) Using a master material - Have to remake parts of the substance in UE4 - More expensive shader -…
Not more expensive than the parent material. If you mean material instances by sub materials. Or maybe you mean how much more expensive is to use layered materials instead of having it in the texture?
Hey guys, I'm having a hard time differentiating between 2d and 3d textures/materials/substances/shaders. It all seems so complicated. My goal is to render semi-complex scenes with walls made of individual stone blocks, rock piles, carved columns and other carved objects, maybe like a high-poly Dark Souls. I am *not*…
Hi! Nice updates! Thanks for reminding me of the challenge  @BillyJackman I like personality it got, with the frame looks like it has a grin. If you intended to work on this some more, I think some dynamism/ folds in the hanging scroll would enhance it more. And perhaps some more material definition, so it…
