Hi guys, for this current project I'm working on I wanted to use normal edge decals, I've followed this tutorial I'll explain my set up, I'm trying to add edge wear to this Below you can see the deferred decal mesh which isn't applying the normal information correctly to the pillar underneath. Below you can see in the…
Hi guys, I wonder if anyone might know of an easy way to insert multiple edge loops into a mesh similar to the way the "Insert Edge Loop" tool allows in Maya? I am an experienced Maya user but I'm trying to pick up 3DS Max. If no such tool exists, I would be interested to know how experienced 3DS Max users go about…
Okay, I am working on modeling a pulse rifle from aliens for my portfolio. I have a good friend that works for a blizzard/activision GD company. Whenever he looks at my meshes he says I have WAY too much geometry, and to let the turbosmooth do most of the work. This is what I have so far. In the second image I highlighted…
Hi Applying an animated boolean to a hard surface model with split edges works but doesnt show a closed wall. It shows an open area inside the geometry as expected, With Max you wouldnt have to split edges but just use smoothing groups. With Blender it also wouldnt be a problem if it was a still image. Just merge all verts…
Hi guys so with 3ds Max we have Constraint options in Edit Geometry , but when I want to extrude vertex or edges along the edge I don't have any option. Also its quite awkward in Max that I can't align vertex to vertex/edge/face like with Maya just choose a vertex and hold 'v' on keyboard to align. :/
Its kind of a solution, but this is more for overlapping edges, whereas im after edges that are very close together. or within a certain distance. Thanks for the help tho. This is a pretty useful modifier.
That would require re-UVing unfortunately Eric. That and attempting to Bridge a complete ring many times will angle the edges , so now you have an extra step to remake into rings. Mark, tried the retriangulate. No difference. I did attempt the ribbon/edges/spin edge, but it does the same issue as bridging complete rings,…
Can't think of an example off the top of my head, but I guess my main question is, for big giant props, how do you add edge wear? Lets say I have a giant metal sculpture that needs edge wear, or wood that needs some lighter edges. Whats the most common way to texture something like this? I've seen a technique using masks…
Hi - apologies if the answer to this is obvious but I'm a newbie and still learning :-). I can't for the life of me figure out why these edges marked in the screenshot aren't bevelling at the same time as the others. I tried adding supporting edges but that didn't do the trick. Is it their angle? I made sure all the edges…
For some reason when I export my PNG's from Adobe they keep showing up with these white edges at the very ends. This is a picture of the illustration I'm doing in Photoshop, latest version. It's supposed to have a transparent background, but for this case I have it against a black background to show how there are no white…
