Okay, I am working on modeling a pulse rifle from aliens for my portfolio. I have a good friend that works for a blizzard/activision GD company. Whenever he looks at my meshes he says I have WAY too much geometry, and to let the turbosmooth do most of the work. This is what I have so far.

In the second image I highlighted the areas I feel have a real problem. I just cant see how to get rid of these useless edges without just removing them and creating more then 4 sided polygons. I could run the edges up and over the front edge of the gun but that would make triangles.
Maybe someone can help explain a better way I should be running my edgeloops. I'm sure that there are good articles explaining the proper technique. I did a quick search on google and didn't turn anything good up.
Thanks and advance.
