I use 3DCoat to projection paint & live paint on my models - projection paint is a bit buggy so I typically just stick with 3DCoat's regular 3d painting, referred to as 'per-pixel painting'. I haven't used Maya since 2007 - the 3d painting was pretty terrible back then, I don't know if it's improved at all.
Thanks for the response. That tutorial will surely help as will the points you raised. Hand painting has always irked me because I could never get it right but I know I am capable of it. Thanks again for the crit, I really do appreciate it.

Do you have a reference for this? I assume the lower border is supposed to curve, like some kind of "poncho" like wrapper? Generally, I would avoid having a regular pattern in that area if possible. Just think about how you would have to go about printing/planning this in real life, where my guess is that this would…

The UV's blow hard but that wasn't the point so please excuse :D I hope its of use to someone: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Yd5mK
Thank you for sharing this. I always wanted to do plein air paintings but I always thought the point of them was to do them outside. I appreciate you sharing so I'll starting doing them with photos.
I'm painting textures in photoshop using the 3d painting features but for some reason its fickle. Painting directly on the texture with the UV overlay is very slow and some times terrible. But painting directly on the model is incredibly fast. I'm using a -2000 poly model and a 1024x1024 texture so i see no reason i should…

It's a sort of sustaining job in between his oil on canvas time and…
Hi there, I'm getting "cracks" in an object I've painted in Mudbox. I've tried isolating it on a particular layer but it seems to be on the layer selected but I'm not able to paint over them. It looks as though the edges are bleeding for different areas that I've painted. I made the UVs in mudbox so they are not ideal…
