Hello! I have question regarding nHair dynamic animation. Its my first time doing hair so I must admit im kinda just shooting and hoping for the best, So ive created the hair in xgen, converted my guides to dynamic curves and then created nHair system from that. Did some test animation, exported it as alembic and then…
This is a fantastic tutorial from Tom Parker http://www.3dartistonline.com/news/2015/04/how-do-i-create-real-time-hair-for-games/ I used it for my most recent piece, I would also check out Maya's xgen feature. I hope it helps :]
Hey Polycount! Decided to sculpt for fun and it ended up spiraling into a batman sculpt. Which...then prompted me to keep going and do texturing rendering...etc... Everything is rendered in Arnold. Retopo in maya, as well as xgen hairs. Zbrush for baking displacement and sculpting. Marvelous designer for only the cape.…
I'm in the process of testing out maya and most of it is intuitiv. Then there are all these plugins, some seem to have similar effects (nhair/xgen), but I have no idea where to start. What plugins should I default to for different disciplines like hair, physics, fluids etc? would be awesome if someone with more experience…
Big Update. Finishing up this piece. Still needs a rig and pose and light job. But I'm pretty happy with where its at right now. Hair was created in Xgen then converted to hair cards. Hey, been a while since I posted on Polycount. Here's an older project I decided to finish up. Arranging UVs and will do the bakes hopefully…
Hello everyone! I started this likeness study of Corey Taylor the other day and then thought "why not making it a full 3d character?" So I'll try to update this thread with the wips. In the end it's just to study some more xgen and MD but to make it fun I'll create the masked and unmasked version with different hairstyles.…
I'm a big fan of the Netflix Series House of Cards, So long time ago I started working on a personal project of president Underwood , learning new stuff about skin shading and hair grooming. For texturing I used the Infinite Realities session images of one of their characters. Xgen Interactive grooming was used for hair.…
Hay Bale My process for creating this hay bale was to use Xgen to create the individual strands. The strands were then converted to geometry before being baked onto the unwrapped cylinder I separated a base cylinder mesh before grooming the Xgen hairs on so that the baking process would be much simpler. Whereas with the…
Hi all! Trying to create a hairstyle in XGen and having an issue occur where it's not creating a ptex file when I try to make a density mask and is giving me the "failed to find" error. I've made sure the project is correctly set and that the file path does not include any spaces. I'm using a separate 'scalp' mesh and have…
Gya and Dave, they're coming along great guys. Gyarados how did you go about creating the hair, something like fibers in ZB or more along the lines of extruded planes? I've been checking out Maya's Xgen recently and seems it can do a pretty good job of this.
