Hello! Some time ago I finished a project and thought I’d make a breakdown of the whole process from start to finish. This is not a detailed tutorial for every step but rather an overview over the process that I hope will help people (especially beginner 3D artists) get a better understanding of how the pipeline works.…
hi @Hugo_ca! I think you can improve the posture of your blockout. Try to assume where is the body weight is put and balance the posture from there (maybe think of it like modeling an actual clay figure - it shouldn't fall over!). I think it's vital to get this step right, bc it's visible at a glance. Consulting…
Hi, Some WIP renders and screenshots of this guy. All stuff have been made in ZBrush except the bag. I got blockout in Marvelous Designer of it and finished it up in ZB. Fur, hair have been made by FiberMesh and for coloring used Polypaint just to get right mood. The main exploration Thanks!
Hey Rarendipity! I like the blockout, although I would pick a better shape for the cliffs, maybe do large boxes to represent rough rocks? It's kinda noisy with the small boxes too. Other than that I'll keep an eye on this. :)
Paskie, The main thing I instantly saw was you are rushing into detail right away, without blovking down all your major forms. The major forms help to give it its specific look, not the details you put ontop of it. You should try making a throw away blockout sculpt. Dont event think about high detail stuff, just make sure…
+1 for detailed blockout which becomes both high and lowpoly. Also great for making sure you get proportions right before moving onto the sub-d stuff. Another thing I tried recently is saving all the edges of the blockout into a selection set (modo). Then after you're done adding loops to make your sub-d mesh, you…
I'm working on making a new environment piece in UDK and while my progress on it might be slow I would like to get more feedback along the way as I'm working on it. First I have a few reference images and the blockout in MAX viewport with some very crude lighting placement. It's a bit darker than I want it to be in the…
Hey PC, I am going to be entering this competition as an individual and this is also the first one I will have entered on here :) . I can't concept at all so I have made up a floor plan, some moodboards and a simple blockout to get my vision across. The basic idea is a viking themed environment set inside a large ice cave,…
Hello. I started on this a long time ago and I am now going to finish it. Based on a concept by Thomas A. Szakolczay for Call Of Duty: Ghosts. Blockout work from a while ago: With some additional angles I will be working with in mind: Original concept: I have been slowly chipping away at some assets that I will post. Once…
