I import a mesh object into max5, assign a materal to it (multi-sub)and render -all is fine. I attach it to another mesh, assign a materal, render is No Good. Checked the IDs, all ok. Any ideas?
First of all, congratulations on finishing the scene! In my mind that is the biggest challenge of all. It does feel like a dungeon right out of Skyrim. A couple of things I feel you could do to improve your scene would be: - Make a triplanar material/shader, it would solve your tiling issue on the walls without having to…
Yo yo, sick gun :) I think you need a break up of materials. It looks like a metal smart material was drag n dropped onto the whole thing and called done. If you search up submachine gun on artstation, I'd suggest getting references from there.
Each update I waste some time to see if Substance Sampler AI does anything useful finally and always just shrug and go away. Image to material usually does something just marginally better than old crazy bump . Ads halos around height details and looks same awful at sharp light angles. Surprisingly it sometimes works…

Hello! Some time ago I finished a project and thought I’d make a breakdown of the whole process from start to finish. This is not a detailed tutorial for every step but rather an overview over the process that I hope will help people (especially beginner 3D artists) get a better understanding of how the pipeline works.…
I finally had some time to finish up the high poly: I decided to cut out making the bipod for the weapon to save on time. I also want to render the weapon in Unreal and with that, also create a camo skin system with the material layering system in that game engine. In my head, I imagine it working and looking like the skin…
This project showcases a full CGI recreation of the Pagani Utopia steering wheel, modeled, textured and rendered entirely from scratch. The goal was to develop a one to one digital replica of a real world asset, a scenario that often happens in production when the client cannot provide reference models or ready to use…
Hi! I think it looks cool :+1: Points I think could be improved further: * I agree with Noren that materials all read very matte and some variation in reflectivity would be nice. * Boxes look too repeated in my opinion and their construction is a bit cartoony/ simple. Could create a set of variants, constructed slightly…
Day 6! We're here! And we're almost done! Today I did about 2hrs of UV mapping shenanigans, fixing things I kept messing up with, and another hour of last minute modeling and organizing my scene. Clean outliner FTW :3 I added a separation for the measuring thing on the canister and started setting up Vertex Colors.…
