Each update I waste some time to see if Substance Sampler AI does anything useful finally and always just shrug and go away. Image to material usually does something just marginally better than old crazy bump . Ads halos around height details and looks same awful at sharp light angles.
Surprisingly it sometimes works better as text to image first. But usually does small 1x1m useless pieces , repeating like hell and never do what you actually want.
I assume I try to use it for something not available in typical material libraries sampler Ai is trained on probably. Something too much of a real nature origin. It does better for example on fabric textures or other man made materials. But not on subjects I usually do like beat up road sides and edges . Dried out mud streams etc
They regularly claim improvements while I see no difference really. Wonder is there any other AI that do image to height better? What's the state of AI assisted height reconstruction currently?
Wonder whats a common opinion? Does Sampler require more patience and experience. Would show you its best with more time spent ? The rest of the soft is perfectly doable in both Painter and Designer with less software resistance imo so it's hard to spend lots of time with it.
