Yep, fault of the lighting, not normal mapping. There's a set of slides from a conference a few years ago, which I just saw again yesterday, that attempts to deal with issues like this. I'll dig it up.
Hey, new to posting and 3D but I can't find anything on this (that is if you can even do it.). I want to start doing low poly character with hand painted texture but I want to figure out how to use 2 sided polygons. I have heard it used before but not a lot of info on how to do it. For example, if I wanted to do a…
joeriv thanks but Im a little confused, I cant find the folder you were talking about with a chamfer/bevel would I havto remap the model? I was under the assumption that a group of polys that are planar that have the same smoothing groups would be..well..flat? The other side of the slide came out just fine and it has alot…
I'm wondering if there is anything to watch out for when normal mapping a double sided polygon, like for palm tree leaves, cloth, or something like that. Are there any special considerations when baking and working with double sided polygons or is it pretty straight forward?
Hey guys, im triying to extract something, but i want only ONE SIDED, not Double. Whether i click on double or not, it makes always the same. Double Sided. So whats my failure=?
Dear All, i would like to ask what do I wrong: I tried to use clipcurve, but it always clip the same side of the model. I drag a cpli line and press alt key, however it changed the white dotted line to a grey it clip the same side as I would not press the alt. What do I wrong? thank you very much ps: sorry for bad enaglish
Inspired by Shotgun's thread http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=114791 I decided I want to see what 2d and 2.5d side-scrolling games people love or enjoy the level design in. Post an example or title of some side-scrollers that you think are well done, or just have awesome levels in which you really appreciate…
Hey everyone, thanks for the feedback on this piece — the anatomy critique on the foot was correct, so I went back and fixed it. I've updated the image in the original post with the corrected version. Quick note on my workflow, since it came up in the comments: I work with AI generation as a starting point and do extensive…
Do you prefer even or odd number of sides for your cylinders and cones? What are the advantages you get from your choice? I always choose even numbers because they are better for symmetry but is there any good reason to use odd number of sides? Thanks in advance.
I was a bit confused about whether you can use single sided aplha planes with shadow volumes. Obviously its a pain in the arse to have for example a hair or grass plane with 2 sides. besided doubling the poly count, its just a pain. BUT for stencil shadows your meshes cannot have open edges. I am presuming therefore you…
