but of all the sketches etc. in this thread, i think it would look coolest with something like the 'bottom' head on the armour at the side (on the drawing before this one ^)
looks like the pairing really was a good one!
I like the first concept idea with those transparent green sector/monitor panels.
Another sketch, just to give a body to the head i overpainted (and little updates on his head too...
but u need to incorporate the translucent screens. They were looking real cool in the first sketches...
And yes, the screens and all holograms will be added in the cg version

I think a good gauge would be what people got away with last year - I don't recall seeing any bare breasts. Probably best to play it safe rather than risk being disqualified?

You guys made some really awesome sketches here, but for the latest one, you can create it, but don't expect to win with it.
When making a shadow for polycount, here are some questions you should ask yourself:
1. Can she do covert operations by herself?
2. Does she have a weapon or skill that let's her succeed in her missions without anyone elses help?
3. If she goes on a mission, can she go unseen? Or will everyone see her comming because she is either too big or too flashy?
4. Can she cause a lot of damage?
5. Does she look cool?
That's it. In your latest sketch, you only have no.5. She looks great, but she needs a whole lot of tweaking.
Hope this helps. I am sure you guys will come up with something great because you have already produced a few initial ideas that look awesome!

Stealth is not a requirement. Although the fact that she bonds with the machine is a big no no. That's directly against the rules.

but hey.. its there contest and if they want a "bluemakingthingidithing" than thats what they want..
but in one point i have to agree.. a screeming mother-of-dw is no shadow.. how ever you read it
so remove the mouth and make her screem mentally ..
but still a fan of the horned deamon!

apart from the title of shadow, the brief says we can create something that is a weapons specialist that will be judged on coolness and ability to win the war.
you should really update the brief if something else is required imho
edit: I mean- if some of the boards most talented and clever artists are confused about the brief what chance do chumps like me stand
I agree when you say that screaming is too much, but it can be an weapon, like the banshees in the mythology, who were freezing ennemies whit their scream, and then kill them (and she has a lot of symbiots...so she can kill a lot of people! So, killing people on a battlefield is not only having a big gun, it can be more subtil.
As we choose 'convert or die', i imagine that 'mother' freezes her ennemies, and then throw her symbiots to convert them. The best way to fight someone is to change him to a really stupid dude
So, i hope we can imagine 'shadow' in another way that i big guy or alien with a lot of weapons
Renaud, i've seen the rules... but i think we can really make a natural version of 'mother', just keep the mask and some metals on her

Yea as you can see...
Just keep working on whatever you feel like, they will turn out completely different, since the only underlying similarity is that there's a pregnant woman involved. The way they move/look/attack is completely different.
You might as well say that everyone is stealing everyone else's ideas because they have power armour and a gun.
Nonetheless, the women character looks more like a general giving orders from the back of enemy lines then an initial heavy assault unit or special ops unit. On the other hand, the drawings before the woman are great for this topic. Aside from being great concept pieces, they really depict a special unit that is quick, able to cause damage, and possess other traits/combat experience to survive their missions.
Keep it up guys, you will make great canon fodder yet!

that said, back to the topic, I find all the sketches awesome, I LOVE the last one, even if, I also thing she looks too general-ish to be a supersoldier, still, and whatever you chose to do, I'm watching this thread, I really love what I saw here so far
