OMG! Andarilho Turnment is still alive? i actually thought you two forgot those crazy ideas... poor us
Been terribly busy with unitersity but here is some old old work, about christmas vacations (not really vacations, as even on chritmas day and newyear day i studied like a dog). These are 2 models done to keep sanity on normal values. At this home i don't have photoshop, so no textures and fun image composition on MsPaint =P
That would be the gay reporter with the fat camera man...
There are some areas to save some polys but polycount wasn't the main worry
I'm new here to the Polycount forums. Thought I would start things off by posting something I was thinking about revisiting and revamping. I did this about five years ago and was never quite pleased with the colors in the texture map (I think they are a bit too saturated). Anyway, comments and suggestions are welcome.

arshlevon: how's that base mesh working for you?

great, i only use meshes like this for sculpting now, its super flexible and much easier to make changes to. not to mention how much faster it is, it would of taken twice as long if i tried to define all the proportions with the base mesh. i can really sculpt any head i want from just that one mesh.
Model...texture is at like 65%. I'd like some general crit, especially on the color scheme...I think it's pretty awful. I want to keep the piece somewhat cute since it's of and for my girlfriend who has been asking me to do a model of her. 2500 tri's 512x512 texture. Thanks for looking!
Here's the highpoly and lowpoly wip for Cgchat's mini-challange. The lowpoly is finished, but it's my first highpoly and I quite messed it up at the start (lol, it is the start of it). Going to have to leave this behind and start over and organize my work. Got to work my way slowly from back to front. Luckly there is no strict deadline, so I can take my time on this. This gun is a standard mg of a crusader in the holy crusade in the year about ~2500.
Christmas Present for my bro, a character that he created for a roleplaying game we used to play (that he also created)
Had it printed 30in tall. looked pretty nice.
Jackablade:
yeah you might be right, if i leave it on its own.
the idea is, that its for either DS or cellphones. If i were to use it in a cellphone game, i would include all textures in one sheet, so the 48x48 would be part of a much bigger texture. im not sure, if you could just do the same on the DS, i don't have any experience with 3d on that system.
Do you mind telling which realtime preview method you used on this? So far I've seen many different ones possible in max but each had flaws (mirror seams, lights not updating aso) hence I was curious to hear which one you used here. JIStyle's gave me great results on skin but I have not tested it with metals yet.
Your model seems to render perfectly even including things like colored specular and glow, so yeah if you don't mind sharing...
aniceto, that totally rocks! The slit on the paddle-face looks like it'd be a cool robotic mouth, though I doubt that's what you were going for, that's what popped out to me. Totally sweet!
Ha that makes sense! I tried that directx thing on a simple metal+spec material and it looked great especially because of the control it gives on the powerful colored highligts. I didn't know it supports normalmaps haha :P
Nice one Pior, I like it a lot better without the toon shaded outlines. That just seems to muck it up, especially around her lips and hands. The final shot without it looks much nicer.
Tacit, your models always have such a cool rythm. I wish you would finish a few. :-P

edit: awwww, we have the same postcount, isn't that cute!

Mop is correct, nothing fancy to report. Max 8, 3 lights and DX display of standard material checked.
