huh? it's Bungie, shouldn't we expect live action + CG trailers by now?
I guess the way i worded that was confusing. Quantum Break did the same thing this week with their trailer. Normal live action footage of family... cut to prerendered CGI. And then Bungie does it: normal live action footage of Pollo Hermano reading a story... cut to prerendered CGI. It's jarring to me.
I don't have a problem with live action mixed with CG. It's CG mixed with live action I don't like. If that makes any sense.
yea that was pretty brutal. super generic moon enviro and pretty bland overall, pretty much echoing everyones comments i guess which is a shame, cause everyone around me who watched it had the same reaction as well.
I NEED THIS GAME. I NEED THREE COPIES OF THIS GAME. I NEED THREE COPIES OF THIS GAME AND 5 PS4s TO PLAY THEM ON!
Ok. no. but seriously, this looks amazing. The Mass-effect-esque "biotics" look stellar, and everything about it just makes my mouth water. I am SO excited!
wow the visuals look awesome. really cool, the voice commentary is hooooooorible. why do companies have this scripted smack talk/tactical chatter that just sounds so rehearsed and fake?
really cool visuals, but i gotta agree with pixelmasher on the commentary during the demo. Soooo brutal. The guy completely interrupted the mysterious sci fi atmosphere that the demo was aiming for every five seconds with either a. A brutal hardcore nerd laugh, or b. some nerdy comment. There's a reason why voice actors do the voices in games. Yes I understand that it's an mmo, but seriously?
Amazing stuff! I really wanna play this game for sure. I didn't mind the commentary at all, I think the environment and atmosphere does most of the talking !
I usually hate FPS games. Borderlands is one of my favourite games though, and Destiny reminds me so much of borderlands in all the right ways. Just with a more realistic approach for graphics (Im not saying they are better, cause they are different styles all together), and an online persistent world. Destiny is all things YES!!! The enviro art is amazing. The animation is top notch. Coop and loot, hell yes.
My jaw was on the ground the entire live game play preview. That said, my biggest holy crap moment was afterwards when I found out the big ass tank bot thing at the end was originally suppose to be a stationary turret, but a small crew worked after hours to turn it into that badass tank thing, and the director or whoever liked it so much, they put it in. That just makes me smile from ear to ear when stuff like that happens in the industry. Creativity, passion and drive. Hard work pays off.
Congratz to all the guys up at Bungie, I knew this would be a killer looking game from all the talented people I know that work there.
I absolutely cannot wait to just roam around the great looking worlds you guys have created here. Loving the shapes/style/colors of things. Looks beautiful and a ton of fun. You guys should be super proud of the work you've done.
I see this sucking up a ton of my time on the PS4 when its released
yes, YES! This is looking so good! Really excited that this area made it into the game. It's from one of the concepts that seemed like it was part of the fantasy oriented style that was talked about during the gdc panel. Some of that music is giving me Halo CE/new Star Trek vibes. Amazing work all around.
I'm really not feeling this game, I dunno why people are freaking out about it. It looks like a more polished Warframe, with almost none of the charm. The environments are awesome, but I'm dying inside looking at these far-future warriors wielding near-future assault rifles with red-dot scopes and eotechs while they fight post-apocalyptic 4 armed robot locusts! Seriously, who is greenlighting this stuff, it's like stylistic dyslexia.
It doesn't, I worded that poorly. I'll say "feels like" because from the gameplay it seems similar. Small teams on missions, collecting glowing loot, shooting things inthe face, different enemy types, etc. Just strikes me that way when I see it. It doesn't look like Warframe, but like a more polished version of the game concept.
IMHO, it has a lot more in common with Borderlands - it's basically the same concept entirely, only without the comedy setting and cartoon graphics.
What's putting me off at the moment is that they're showing all these sprawling vistas, but it looks like very little of the game environment is explorable. I'm gettin a vibe that it's not anywhere near as open world as it's pretending to be - much less so than Borderlands.
Really the only thing I'm looking forward to is big open environments that the halo games have been known for. If it turns out to be too restricted I'll probably lose most of my interest.
Their pre-order site still shows 360 as an option. I'd be surprised if they dropped the 360 of all platforms as it has their biggest initial fan base from the Halo games and it's the console they have the most experience with. Probably just a mistake on MCV's end.
Bummed that PC version is off the table. I'm super excited for Destiny but have no plans to get a next gen console in the immediate future. I still have my 360 but it's been slowly dying for a while now so I don't want to invest too much more into it.

Joe Staten actually talks like that IRL... all the time. lol!

EVERY. DAMN. TIME.
Otherwise looking fantastic, and will have to pick it up :P
No I'm not going to play shooter on console with controller.
Gotta love the Matte painting work Bungie's artist produce.
Oh hey, that's what I do!

Centuries waited...
Space technology...
1000 concept artists design the game...
and they give u an orc shackled in chains
plz
..because it is a 360 game. Destiny is suffering from what PC games have suffered from for years; being stifled by having to run on older hardware.
